Heavy gauge copper wire is hammered into a supportive “U” shape to support a polymer clay vine molded from a tree in my yard. I added teal, green and copper Swarovski crystals into the vine for a little touch of sparkle. From the center of the necklace hangs a hand molded polymer clay lily that dyed feathers are peeking out of. Whimsical, mystical and of the forest. The vine is tied to heavy gauge hammered copper using copper wire which adds strength and a touch of masculinity blended with the feminine flower and feathers that represent spirit.
The necklace strands are made of dyed and knotted sari fabric remanants straight from the cutting room floors in India. This is a fabulous way to repurpose materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. My materials support other women that sell these ribbons as their main income.
