FAIRIE FLOWER EARRINGS:
Rose and gold fade to dusty greens in these gorgeously handcrafted lily earrings. The lilies have faint veins and golden dust veiling on the length of their translucent petals. Peeking out of the center is a lampworked glass bead in complimentary shades of pinky peach with a hint of lustre. A tiny Swarovski crystal sits like a dewdrop on the outer edge of each petal. Swirling up towards the ear wire is a piece of hand dyed silk ribbon in soft mauve, layered with antiqued copper wire sprinkled with seed beads of fairy dust and a central sparkling Swarovski crystal. Atop that little pile of deliciousness sits a crackled cranberry Czech glass bead covered by antiqued brass bead caps. The sterling silver ear wires are handmade and given a patina and sealed and polished with high grade jewelry wax.
Earrings are 3.15 inches from tippity top to bottom of the petal
Don’t let the size fool you, these are pretty light weight… unless you have really extremely sensitive ears.
From The Artist…
I have been passionately creating new flower earrings out of clay. These new designs are like little 3D mini works of art. Last summer I took a break from making jewelry and began to watercolor again after a 20 year hiatus. This sparked something deep within me. A love for the swirling, blending colors and how to work them with my brush and water. Upon coming back to jewelry, I focused on combining my love of painting with my love of texture. I decided to revisit the lily flower I had designed early on in my jewelry making adventures. Several years ago I wasn’t able to master that form well and so I set it aside to work with other designs for a while. Still passionate about mastering this flower shape, I decided to pull out my tools, give it a go and create a big mess trying. After many hours of ‘claying’ around I finally began producing pieces I adore. I add hand painted fibers, ribbons, yarns, Swarovski crystals, wire wrapping, lampworked beads and handmade Sterling Silver ear wires.
