WHAT’S ON THE WORK BENCH?

ON THE BENCH: Below you will see some new flower earrings in the production stage. Making these clay flowers is becoming quite a passion. Read more below…

From The Artist…

I have been passionately creating new flower earrings out of clay. These new designs are like little 3D mini works of art. Last summer I took a break from making jewelry and began to watercolor again after a 20 year hiatus. This sparked something deep within me. A love for the swirling, blending colors and how to work them with my brush and water. Upon coming back to jewelry, I focused on combining my love of painting with my love of texture. I decided to revisit the lily flower I had designed early on in my jewelry making adventures. Several years ago I wasn’t able to master that form well and so I set it aside to work with other designs for a while. Still passionate about mastering this flower shape, I decided to pull out my tools, give it a go and create a big mess trying. After many hours of ‘claying’ around I finally began producing pieces I adore. I add hand painted fibers, ribbons, yarns, Swarovski crystals, wire wrapping, lampworked beads and handmade Sterling Silver ear wires.

METAL CLAY!
I’m having a blast making these uniquely individual metal clay earrings. Pictured is a table full of handmade white bronze elements fresh out of the kiln and ready for creating with. Also pictured is a pair of finished earrings with white bronze veined petals, Swarovski crystals, Czech rollers in turquoise and my handmade lily pads. All hand wrapped and embedded with little crystals and stones. Rustic and elegant at the same time.

ELECTROFORMING!
TA! DA! Funky and individual electroformed rings and such are hot off the bench!
I use a process that involves copper and electricity in a specialized bath. It takes 12-24 hours for one ring or pendant to be fully ready for clean up and polishing.
Pictured is a rutilated quartz pendant and a raw Sunstone chunky ring with ruby cabochon side set. No two ever come out alike and I never quite know what the process will reveal to me. Yummy!!!!
